FAQ

IV Therapy

What are the benefits of IV therapy?

The undisputed best way to obtain the vitamins and hydration that your body needs is the good old-fashioned way—through eating diverse, nutrient-rich foods and drinking enough water. That said, obtaining all the nutrients you need strictly through your diet isn’t always so easy. We live in a modern world characterized by office jobs, processed foods, industrial agriculture, and depleted topsoil. Modern changes to the way that our food is grown, made, and processed can leave even the most conscientious eaters suffering from nutritional deficiencies. Oral vitamin supplements are certainly better than nothing, but it is a well-documented phenomenon that only a very small percentage—usually less than 10%—of vitamins taken orally are absorbed into the blood stream. In contrast, by delivering vitamins and minerals directly into the blood stream, intravenous nutrients are absorbed at a rate of practically 100%.

Who will be administering my treatment?

DropFusion IV is proud to employ an incredible team of Registered Nurses with an abundance of acute care experience. Our team includes ER nurses, ICU nurses, Labor and Delivery Nurses and more—all with years of experience starting IVs on even the tiniest and trickiest veins. All our services—IV’s, shots, and COVID tests—are administered by one of our amazing Registered Nurses.

Does getting an IV hurt?

Because administering an IV involves using a needle to place a small plastic tube into a vein, there is a brief “pinching” or “poking” sensation as the needle breaks the skin—similar to the sensation of having blood drawn. However, once the tube has been placed into the vein and the needle has been removed, an IV infusion should be very comfortable. If your IV is hurting you during your service, let your Registered Nurse know, and they can adjust the position of the tube, adjust the position of your arm, apply heat, or several other interventions to make sure that you are comfortable during your treatment.

COVID Testing

What type of COVID testing does DropFusion IV offer?

DropFusion IV is proud to offer several different testing options for our clients. We offer traditional PCR Testing (24-48 hour result turnaround time), Expedited PCR Testing (~1 hour result turnaround time), and Rapid Antigen Testing (~15 minute result turnaround time).

Will a test from DropFusion IV be accepted for travel?

Make sure that you check with your airline or destination regarding their specific COVID-19 testing requirements. Some airlines and destinations accept Rapid Antigen Test Results, others require PCR results. Some destinations, like Hawaii, require that test results come from specific labs (our tests will not be accepted by the state of Hawaii).

Can a COVID-19 Antibody Test show if my vaccine was effective?

The rapid, point-of-care COVID-19 antibody test administered by DropFusion IV will only show the presence of antibodies from an actual COVID-19 infection. It will not show antibodies created in response to a COVID-19 vaccine. The test that we use detects antibodies specific to the nucleic capsule of the COVID-19 virus, whereas the COVID-19 vaccine creates antibodies specific to the virus’s spike protein. It should be noted that antibodies from actual COVID-19 infection slowly decline over time, and after 6 months or so, may not be detectible by our test.

Vitamins, Minerals, & Antioxidants

What is Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is involved in cellular metabolism. It is particularly important for DNA synthesis, fatty acid and amino acid metabolism, and red blood cell synthesis. Vitamin B12 is not produced by the human body, and therefore must come from the diet or supplementation. Common sources of Vitamin B12 are meat, fish, eggs, and dairy, putting vegetarians and vegans at high risk for Vitamin B12 deficiency. Symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency include fatigue, weakness, and low mood. Vitamin B12 therapy can improve mood and symptoms of depression, boost energy levels, prevent anemia, and support healthy sleep cycles.

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is the most important antioxidant produced by your body. Like all antioxidants, glutathione combats free radicals, thereby preventing cellular damage and tissue inflammation. Glutathione also plays a particularly important role in liver health, encouraging your body’s natural detoxification process. Because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties, glutathione is especially beneficial to those suffering from chronic inflammatory or autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, lupus, psoriasis, or eczema. Finally, there is evidence to suggest that glutathione can inhibit excess production of melanin, making it a uniquely effective treatment for skin hyperpigmentation and melasma.

What is NAD+?

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), is the active coenzyme utilized by every cell in the body for energy production. Utilized by every cell in the body, NAD+ plays a role in a multitude of bodily processes: protecting and repairing DNA, mounting immune responses against pathogens, producing neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, repairing muscle tissues, protecting neurological function, and more. NAD+ levels in the body naturally decline over time, directly causing many of the less-than-desirable effects of aging. Patients who undergo NAD+ therapy often report improved mood, decreased anxiety, improved energy levels, decreased muscle and joint pain, improved mental clarity, improved sleep, improved athletic performance, and sometimes improvement in more measurable metrics like lower cholesterol and blood pressure. NAD+ treatment is most effective when done on a consistent basis, so DropFusion IV recommends biweekly/monthly treatments for our patients receiving NAD+ therapy.
